What is the SIMSIM Face API?
A cloud REST API for face detection, 1:1 verification, 1:N recognition, liveness detection and facial attributes. You send images over HTTPS and receive JSON.
Which endpoint should I start with?
For onboarding and KYC, start with verification plus liveness. For finding people in a gallery, use recognition.
Do you offer SDKs?
The API is plain HTTPS and JSON, so it works with any language. Code samples are in the docs.
How accurate is it?
Accuracy depends on image quality, lighting and your threshold. Test on images that resemble your production traffic and tune the threshold for your false-match tolerance — our evaluation guide explains how.
Privacy & compliance
Do you store photos?
No. We keep mathematical templates that can't be reversed into an image. See the Biometric Data Policy.
Is SIMSIM GDPR compliant?
SIMSIM acts as a processor for your biometric processing and offers a DPA. As controller, you need a lawful basis and an Article 9 condition (usually explicit consent). See Western Europe.
What about Illinois BIPA?
BIPA requires written notice, a written release and a public retention schedule before collecting biometric identifiers. See United States.
Can I use face attributes to detect emotions at work?
Not in the EU: the AI Act prohibits emotion-recognition systems in workplaces and education except for medical or safety reasons. We recommend against it everywhere.
Billing
Is there a free plan?
Yes — 250 requests a month, no credit card.
What currency do you charge in?
US dollars, plus local taxes where applicable.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Changes take effect from the next billing cycle.
Do unused requests roll over?
No — allowances reset at the start of each billing month.
